Apache Tears are the clear variety of Obsidian, often unpolished to retain their natural coating and integrity of where they were formed.
They gained their name from the myth that they were formed by the tears of the Native American women when their menfolk died in battle. The tears were their gift to others to protect them from the grief and suffering their endured.
Obsidian is formed by rapidly cooled volcanic lava so it carries the heat of earth's core, giving it the property to overcome fear and to be grounded and practical in facing reality.
