The black to brown coloured quartz that occurs by natural irradiation. It imparts stillness, a grounded quietness but with the energy for change and creativity. Smoky Quartz is one of the more gentle stones of the base chakra - instilling calm in order to be grounded, and providing protection in the form of a cloak of invisibility.
